Api is down? Integration stopped working for me.
Nope. Working for me.
I also had a short downtime today after a restart of HA. About 30 minutes later another restart brought the connection back up again.
After restart my integration started working.
Thanks for sharing details. Good reading in this thread.
Same impression here. I am adding more and more functionality to our home and I am just getting issues how to get their products to one common system like home assistant. Having dozen of clouds and apps is nightmare. If I purchase another system to my automation, I will definitely prefer the one without any cloud and having support for hass or at least possibility to get their integration in.
IMHO the current strategy of Viessmann is a rather faint hearted approach towards the future. Thinking publicly of charging for their cloud API without opening a cost free non-cloud option will definitely not convince any smart home users. We need to integrate a dozen suppliers in our homes. I gladly pay ā¬5 a month to Nabu Casa for helping me with this integration nightmare on the top level. But I will not pay to each system supplier in my home. Not to a single one off them actually. Sorry.
they should provide both options. there are users who use cloud and are happy to pay, others want to stay away for exposing their devices and rather use them only locally (I prefer staying local).
I have locally vitotrol at the moment and considering updating to vicare but Iāll wait and see how this goes.
I have the Vicare app connected through Vitoconnect to my Vitocal 222 heat pump. And the only way to get it connected to HA is through the Viessmann cloud.
Additionally I have a Vitovent ventilation system with an LB1 controller in my living room. This system is currently not connected to anything. Not to Vicare, not to HA. I could in fact also connect it to Vitocal through an additional Modbus connection. But Vitovent can only be connected to one controller. So it is either LB1 or Vitocal+Vicare. I would loose my LB1 interface in the living room and control would only be possible either through Vicare & HA or through the Vitocal control panel down in my cellar. This is not what I want.
This whole Viessmann strategy is all closed up and rather convoluted. What would really help us HA users would be a documentation of Viessmannās Modbus data endpoints. This would open up all options to bridge to HA. But Viessmann actively refuses to disclose this documentation.
Hi,
I see the same error.
Its when HA disovered my Viessmann Gas Boiler, then i tried to supply all data, got all api keys and so on, and after clicking submit - The intl string context variable ānameā was not provided to the string ā{name}ā and thats it. Cant register my Viessman device
You should open an issue in core issue tracker.
Update:
I found it already mentioned in a comment to issue #62231, but might not be noticed there because the original issue posting is not about that problem.
Ok, i found my error. I didnt know, that i need to find and read manual before setting up API key.
Viessmann ViCare - Home Assistant (home-assistant.io)
I didnt created key like this, after filled correct values, everything done!
Name: PyViCare
Google reCAPTCHA: Disabled
Redirect URIs: vicare://oauth-callback/everest
Having the exact same problem (even though Iād be more interested in the Eco presetā¦ )
And answering in that context adorobisā question:
Yes, changing/activating these preset modes works like a charm using the ViCare app. So it doesnāt seem to be a lack of functionality on the hardware side (running Vitodens 300-W B3HA and Vitotronic 200 HO1C).
Any ideas where to start digging?
Hi,
First of all I wanted to express my appreciation for all the progress and development that was made recently to that integration, even though Viessmann isnāt very helpful.
I wanted to ask if there is (at least planned) possibility to verify what programme is circuit currently running on? The thing is sometimes, when automation runs vicare.set_vicare_mode it doesnāt really succeeds, so it either doesnāt start or stop heating. I found that when I call that service from AppDaemon it sometimes returns warning with error code so I might implement it to check for that and retry if needed but Iām not sure if it will cover all the scenarios.
Another thing I would appreciate is auto reconnect when Viessmann service is down. Now I have to manually restart HA if I find out about that, or maybe any of you have solution for that issue?
Regards
In the event that anyone has problems, Viessmann has announced maintenance work today.
Yepp, affected me. HA did not disconnect from the API but stopped updating Vicare data at around 16:50 UTC. The Vicare app showed that it could not reach my Vitoconnect and considered it offline. Unplugging Vitoconnect for a moment solved the problem at around 17:50 UTC.
@Bimbo009 Where did you find the maintenance announcement?
Iāve also had yesterday around 3PM UTC problems with connecting to Viessmann API. Required 3 HA restarts before it has caught.
Hello, since yesterday only have 6 out of 10 entities. For example, among the missing entities is ViCare Burner Hours
Same here. Seems Viessmann removed them
Note: I didnāt restart HA. The sensors stopped delivering data
I just did a restart of HA and now the entities are also missing for me.
Until the restart I still got correct values for the entities/sensors.
Same, just left with water heater.vicare_water
, sensor.vicare_supply_temperature
and climate.vicare_heating
which no longer shows on/off status, just the preset and current temperature. Whats going onā¦?
Havenāt restarted/upgraded Home Assistant since a couple of weeks and the values still seem to update. I assume theyād disappear when I restart.
Same here, so Iām not restarting
