My wife has no trouble using Tailscale. You have a choice of leaving the Tailscale connection enabled all the time or only enabling it when you use the Home Assistant app (that’s how we use it). There’s no typing involved; just tap a toggle button. Easy-peasy.
Anyways, I am not trying to convince you to change anything, only to explain that Tailscale provides a free, secure and convenient method of remote-access to Home Assistant.
