Voice Control from Android Auto?

Hello,

i’ve got a Samsung phone and want to open from my garage from within Android Auto. I neither can call HA Assist nor Amazon Alexa from within Android Auto without fumbling around with the display. And to be honest - I don’t even want to do that as I would loose a lot of features like Control the Phone itself (for messaging, spotify, navigation,)

So is there a way or workaround to trigger something with google Assistant that I could react from within HA?
I had a IPhone in the past and this was super easy with a shotcut, but that isn’t an option anymore.

Any ideas?
thanks
mathias

I use Alexa Echo Auto.

Since you have transitioned to an Android, check out the Tasker App. It’s well worth the $5 and has a Home Assistant plugin.

that would be another option I’ll think about

I already bought tasker some time ago, but never got my head around it. Have you got some instructions or some articles to read?

Thanks

I have used Tasker for so long, there is not any one or few instructions that I can suggest. Basically, in a Tasker Task, you should be able to call any service in HA then create a shortcut on your phone that triggers that task. Or, you can create a Scene like I did which is equivalent of a dashboard. I use a VPN when not connected to home network so I think you would have to do same but not sure of that. Nothing in my Scene uses something from Home Assistant.

I used to use Android Auto when you could run it just on your phone. Then, when that stopped, I searched for an alternative but didn’t like any of them so I created my own Scene using Tasker. I don’t have Android Auto on my car’s radio.

Here is mine Scene/Dashboard:

By clicking any of those buttons, I can open Google Maps, Phone App, Chick-Fil-A, Dunkin, Open Garage Door, etc.
