Voice PE not working as expected

Hi everybody! Today I finally got my hands on the Voice Preview Edition and unfortunately it does not function as expected.

Normal commands like “turn off the lights in living room” or “what is the time” take at least 10 seconds to be processed. Some functionality that according to multiple reviews works, fails completely. For example, timer functionality is not supported:

This is not an expected behavior since according to multiple reviews local processing was taking 3 seconds maximum even on way slower machines like pie 4 and timers are supported.

The HA is running in a virtual machine on a proxmox server. CPU is Intel n100 with 4 cores and 4GB RAM allocated to the vm.

I am very confused and would appreciate any help!

I’ve been playing around with the voice assistant for a while on my phone before purchasing the new Voice PE.

I find the wording is very important - for example “Set up timer for 10 seconds” is not a known command in Voice Assistant out of the box. The command is “set a timer for 10 seconds”.

Out of the box sentences are here in the docs otherwise you might like to create your own sentences. It just takes a bit of patience and experimenting! :slight_smile:
