So I wanna switch from OpenHAB to Homeassistant, I’d also like to enable speech recognition but I’m not quite sure which service has the best integration for Homeassistant.
The coolest thing would be a service which I can use directly on my Windows desktop, like Cortana but I’d also like to have the option of using my Android phone to speak to if I’m not sitting at my PC.
Things like offline speech recognition and privacy would be nice. As it seems all services like Alexa, Google Assistant and Cortana send my data to online servers or even use them to translate speech to text, I’d like to avoid that, but if Alexa would be the best choice, I’ll have to live with that and use it. I’m sending a ton of data about me to Amazon, Google and M$ anyway probably.
i have Alexa on my PC, on my tablet, on my RPI and i have an echo.
so i know Alexa is available on all platforms.
i have no google device and that makes it impossible to use google to switch my lights on (besides the fact that its still only available in english) so thats why i dont use google.
because i have Alexa everywhere there is no need for me to use other options, that are not available on all platforms.
offline is nice but the recognition is worse then online. i decided to use online for the same reasons, i am out there anyway and i think its probably unavoidable in the future to be out there.
