Greetings,
I find myself wanting to measure the energy that my gas-fired oven and clothes dryer consume from their respective gas supplies.
Both of these appliances are going to have a solenoid or some other type of electrically-actuated gas valve. I would like to either measure the voltage across the coil (directly) or the current passing through the wire supplying the coil (via a current clamp or hall effect sensor) to determine when gas is flowing to the appliance and when it isn’t, then multiply the duration of the valve-open time by the BTU/hr rating of the appliance to determine the energy used.
Can anyone recommend a direct voltage sensor or a hall effect (or current clamp) sensor that is readily compatible with Home Assistant? Many, many bonus points if it connects over Wi-Fi.
Thanks in advance!
