Volvo On Call API to be discontinued?

I’ve had an email from Volvo ([email protected]) with the subject Important: API to be discontinued which reads:

The API you are using to communicate with your Volvo vehicle seems to be outdated. It could be that you run it through home automation technology or similar.

Unfortunately, this API will be discontinued. At Volvo Cars we are actively developing a new API specifically designed for this issue. Please check our website to keep up to date with the upcoming API and timeline.

Thank you for your understanding.

It ends with a Read More button which curiously links directly to the Home Assistant Volvo on Call integration page.

The integration is still working at the moment. Does anyone know anything further?

Is this a Home Assistant Core integration, or a custom Integration?

Either way, you should write up an issue with the info you have here. a post on the forum is less likely to be seen.

It’s the integration here: Volvo On Call - Home Assistant (in my original post, but somewhat hidden).

I don’t have an issue currently, it’s working fine. It just seemed strange to receive an email from Volvo linking to the Home Assistant page above.

I’ve created an issue as you suggest.

Not sure if it is related but i got an 403 error with the volvo on call. After removing and readding my car i get an invalid authentication error and am unable to proceed.

(volvo v60 t8 2020)

*Nevermind, I see on github the problem is indeed the api that enden which causes the issues.

Tried the new volvo hacs addon but that doens’t provide any information regarding charging my t8

Yeah I just logged into trying to fix my integration…. This sucks… they should keep this live until the new API is ready tbh… very unfortunate. Both my vehicles went from supporting to not supporting. Ford and Volvo it’s a real shame.

My buying decisions goes
Price
Value
Home assistant…

There are so many great products out there that home assistant makes relevant it’s crazy how it hasn’t become synonymous with Alexa and google home.
These developers are really missing the boat with everyone doesn’t want to use your janky app or even to search for your app on our phones every time we want to use said device.

We want ease of use and availability. I know exactly where to go to use what device I want to use. That’s the true next move in smart devices. Everyone needs to get on board!!!

Since the integration was using an old deprecated API it will no longer work, it hasn’t been worked on for a while. In the issue thread on Github they linked a new integration that is currently in active development:

This sucks.
Out of the blue (now I know why) my Volvo from 2016 is not working anymore in HA.

Reinstalled as instructions, works again thanks

I also got the email. And everything stopped working 2 weeks ago.

I get “invalid authentication”

Tried to delete integration and reinstalled but no luck still says invalid authentication?

What did you do to make it work?

What instructions?

Hi all.
I run my HA in Docker and this was the way I was able to use my Volvo again:

  1. Follow the installation instruction to create new Volvo API from here
  2. I copied Volvo custom component from here to my Docker config folder
  3. Then I restarted my HA
  4. I searched then for the Volvo integration and filled in all the required field and confirmed.
  5. Then I waiting for the 6-digit number, which arrived into my mailbox. Then I confirmed all.
  6. Done. Enjoy

It looks much better now, with nice images and twice more sensors than before.

The issue with the custom component is that engine cannot be started remotely. Anyone managed to find a workaround?

That is a limitation of the newer API. I think it is discussed in the main thread for the other integration.

This morning my integration looked like this for my EX30 which now has digital keys and working mobile app but no Home assistant integration!

Oh and yes I did enter the code that arrived via email and this was the responce.

It took me a couple of tries. It did work thought. My problem is that my model XC90 isn’t supported for some of info, like location.
