Wall Display display for home assistant

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build a wall-mounted Home Assistant display for my family, mainly to show our shared calendars, schedules, chores, and eventually shopping lists—basically something similar to a Skylight Calendar, but fully integrated with Home Assistant.

Can anyone recommend a good display?

My requirements are:

  • Minimum 15" (larger is even better)
  • Touchscreen
  • Suitable for permanent wall mounting
  • Reliable for 24/7 use
  • Works well with Home Assistant (Android, browser, or Companion App)

I'd especially like to hear what hardware you're actually using and whether you'd recommend it.

I have old Intel NUC (windows 11) and two 15 inch touchscreen monitors as my main HA display - one monitor is for HA, other for cameras. Displays are from aliexpress, NUC is bought used pretty cheap. I see that monitor price went up, though... i paid around 100€ for it a year or so ago. For wall mount i printed all necesarry on my 3D printer.
I guess you can take RPi instead of nuc, but only if you get it cheap, since new Pi5 can (will) be more expensive than (faster) used nuc.

Since you wish 15" any tablet will be expensive, since there aren't many of them. But, on the other hand, using tablet simplifies a lot - with a setup above you'll have quite some cables...

I’m using a 24in android table, mounted with command scripts. Samsung doesn’t make this size anymore, but Amazon is full of android tablets ~$300 in the size range are looking for.

Watch out for those dirt cheap tablets, it can happen that they are not capable of displaying simple ha dashboard... i mean, they can be sooooo slow that every touch takes seconds to react...

Thats why i recommend going through Amazon. If they are slower than molasses, it will be reflected in the items review.

I use old Microsoft Surface Pro 3s with HA WinKiosk for displaying HA. 3D printed a nice case too.
