Wall mount dashboard on Microsoft surface 3

I would like to repurpose a Microsoft surface 3 as a wall mounted dashboard and I’m wondering what would be the best way to do it. Do I install HassOs or simply open the dashboard in the browser ? I know it will be a overkill tablet for a dashboard and I could use an android device instead. But with an android device, I will need to replace it sooner then the surface 3 due to the android version support

Home assistant runs headless. There is no frontend interface, except via the web and it does not include a desktop environment or web browser. So yes, just use the browser to access your server which is on another machine.

Alternatively if you install home assistant in a VM you can do this on the same tablet. However I would advise against this. Windows desktop is a far from ideal operating system to run a server on. It will reboot without asking you which could cause all sorts of issues.
