I know, there are plenty of topics and ways to do it around, but most of the threads are pretty old.

I was thinking of doing a flush mount with a raspberry pi and a 7 inch screen as presented here: Christian Bleser – Raspberry Pi Touch-Display bündig in die Wand einbauen

But I strongly dislike the fact that it is only 7 inches and that there is no camera onboard to autowake the display.
So I was thinking about getting FireHD 10 tablets (although they are not currently on sale) since you can easily add the PlayStore and modify it heavily with the FireTools. The main issue I have here is the mounting/framing for the tablet - there are some good ones you can buy from etsy, but with the shipping from the US one of those frames would cost me 50€ and basically it’s still cheap plastic.
I’ve got a friend who owns a 3D-printer and could possibly print me a frame, but I haven’t really found any nice blueprints yet. Also, since we are completely redoing the house, the lady would prefer something that is sticking out of the wall as little as possible.
So I was wondering if any of you have better ideas or any good printable blueprints for a neat wallmount for a FireHD 10 tablet.

I am also there; first i planned with a 7 inch lcd with rpi and a PIR motion sensor; then i calculated and the whole thing costs more than a 10 inch android tablet so i gave up on this plan. I will also go for a 10 inch android tablet.

For the holder, i decided on either of the 2:

  1. A simple aluminum slide rail holder on top and bottom like here. I might also add something to conceal charging cable on the side since i will not be able to run the cable in wall.
  2. A simple wooden frame from your local shop.

While i was planning for 7inch screen i opted for laser cut acrylic in layers instead of 3D print; i believe acrylic stands far more better than 3D plastic.

Anyway my current plan is a tablet with a simple slide in aluminum rail.
