I recently tried to set up a wall panel using the guide from @EverythingSmartHome’s YouTube channel utilizing an Android tablet and Fully Kiosk Browser. His video was great for setup, and a couple of recommended automations for charging, but the newer tablets with Android 14+ do not allow the use of motion detection via the camera when the app is in the background or if the screen is asleep. It is a “privacy improvement.” Waking up when it detects motion made the panel incredibly useful in my application. I also tried using the Android app “Yakk” combined with the HA Companion app, but this didn’t work out very well as it rarely wakes up when there is motion.
Does anyone have any recommendations for setting up a wall panel that can sleep but wake up after detecting motion/presence? Or, are there any Android wizards who know of a way to bypass the privacy feature and disable motion detection in Androi 14+?
