Watchdog between HA and Node-Red

On a few occasions the connection between Node-Red and HA has dropped. It could be that either Node-Red or HA has crashed and the platform requires a reboot.

I thought it would be useful if a watchdog could be implemented in both HA and Node-red to basically poll the other every 30 seconds and send a notification if one doesn’t come back.

Has anybody implementing anything along these lines ?

I assumed you use Hass.io, if else then this solution is not an option.
