Water stop and water flow sensor

Hello, i want to integrate a water flow sensor and if possible in combination with a unit, that can stop the water flow. Has anybody experience with this and can recommend something? I don’t want to attach it to one of my faucets outside, but in my utility room

Hi Matt, your question is quite general and availability where you live, how to connect (wired of wireless), integration, … are crucial for someone to give you advice.

TBC: I don’t use such devices can’t help anyway.

Since you need flow sensor, it’s probably easiest to build it with Esphome.
Esp32 devboard, hall flow sensor(with suitable flow rate), relay module and motorized ball valve.

Thanks. That helps a lot. I will try these Hall flow sensors.
Do you have experience with a certain motorized ball valve?
Matt

You didn’t tell what country.
You need to choose if you want mains (120/240 VAC) voltage or for example 12VDC valve.
Then look for correct size for your pipes and check that it has automatic switch off when completely open/closed.

I am in germany. Thanks for your quick response.
So it would rather use 12 VDC instead of 230 VAC. The automatic switch off is good a point that i did not consider yet. And it should be wired.
I was just wondering if i could get some ideas and experience of good brands for that purpose. For example i use some shelly components and for me it works quite well with home assistant.

Sorry, but I can’t recommend a brand. U.S. Solid had good reputation, but never tried. European brands are expensive. Have a look at Amazon reviews and exclude really bad ones.

I love Shelly, I can’t understand people buying “Huaghong” branded Tuya devices if Shelly has a product available for same purpose…
