Waveshare ESP32-S3 7" Touch LCD – Not Exactly Plug-and-Play?

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up the Waveshare ESP32-S3 7-inch Capacitive Touch LCD Development Board. I’ve watched tons of YouTube videos and searched through the forums, but it seems like getting this thing up and running the way you want really requires a solid understanding of coding.

I totally get that it depends on what you’re trying to display or control, but for those of us who aren’t experienced coders… it’s definitely a steep learning curve. Just a heads-up for anyone thinking it might be a plug-and-play solution—it’s not quite that simple unless you’re ready to dive into some serious customization.

I wanted to create a station at the kitchen just for the wife and kids to manage music and do single button announcements.

Would love to hear if anyone’s found a beginner-friendly starting point or prebuilt templates!

This would be a good place to start - it has a hardware config for that board.

It would have been better to raise this topic in the ESPHome category.
