I don’t know when this changed, but it was a recent update because it’s only recently happened on my system. But this new horizontal weather card is far inferior to the previous card that showed the days/hours vertically in a table that you can scroll up and down in.
This new card, the hourly doesn’t even show the day so it’s significantly less intuitive to use. I realize some folks may prefer this but I don’t know why changes like this always have to be “you will now do it this way whether you like it or not” rather than an option to see it the way it always was.
When did this change and has anyone figured out a way to change it back to the table? I can do a big markup card for it but it’s not nearly as nice as the previous card was.
Hmm. I recently started using that card and haven’t updated from 2025.1 yet so I don’t know what it looked like before. Perhaps someone else on the forum will have this knowledge.
What’s your forecast look like? I don’t have a screenshot of the old system unless I go back to a backup, but listed each day with the high/low temps in a vertical table, and the hourly was each day/hour with temperature on a vertical table. You scrolled up and down and could actually differentiate the day a particular hour was for.
I don’t have an hourly forecast; but the “show forecast only” in the UI looks indistinguishable from the screenshot you posted. What was the version of HA you upgraded from?
Like I said, I don’t know when it implemented, but I’m pretty sure it was mid 2025.2 that I upgraded to 2025.3 when this changed. I’ll have to pull up my RV that’s not been updated lately to see what it looks like before.
There are some people who read this forum who know a lot of great tricks about tweaking the UI (not me), so if you post what you want to do with enough specificity, you can probably get things going.
Do you know the HA version you were running when you took those screenshots?

In 2023.9, HA changed how weather forecasts are retrieved. The old way was, according to the link, removed in 2024.3. The old card looks a lot like what the Entity view of a weather entity looks like still as of 2025.1 (and what your screenshots look like).
I’d love for there to be an option to return it to the way it used to be, the hourly in particularly is not very well thought out at all. They decided form was more important than function.
On Android, it’s even worse - phone are vertical, and it’s intuitive and ergonomic to scroll vertically. Not horizontally. The screen on a phone is also vertical, meaning more info can be contained in a vertical window.
The change over happened in early 2025, i believe. I update my HA 4-8 times per year so it should have been around 2024.10 to 2025.2.
I agree, but in HA once they commit to something new we are almost certainly never going to see the previous again - even if the new doesn’t make a lick of sense! I shouldn’t have to do mental math when looking at hourly trying to figure out which day the hour is for when I see rain. I’ve had to go back and do the whole “ok, there’s midnight, now it’s tomororow, and there is midnight again, that’s the day after” nonsense when it was perfectly fine before.
I know, I’m bitching, but it’s annoying to have someone dictate a change to me that I didn’t want and I have to create markups to fix - and inevitably the response would be “you could always write your own extension to do it”, which I have considered honestly because I find the weather card to be totally useless now.
