Does anyone have recommendations for a door sensor that can be used outdoors? I’m in the high desert in the US, so it’s gonna get hot, and cold, and wet, and frozen. This is for a side gate on my house and battery power would be preferred. Zigbee or Z-wave should work, WiFi coverage out there is not great.
Use a garage sensor connected to input of swabs door sensor
Put seabed sensor in waterproof box/container or extend sensor wire indoor
I use Wyze sensors on my gate and in my mail box. I wrapped in small plastic baggie (pill size) and Zip-tied it to my gate. It has had no problem over the year it has been outside. Temp range -15 to 100 F rain and snow. Hooked up this way https://youtu.be/19UCwf4uidQ
digiblurDIY gets all the credit! Distance is 75’ from gate to receiver with one wall in-between.
I see on the github repo for the wyze component that it’s no longer maintained.
When did you install your sensor?
Well shoot! I have had it for at least a year. It continues to work great. I did not know they were discontinued along with the Componet. Good luck with your project!
