Automations that can only be done with HA
It’s hard to prove a negative. For any example we give, someone familiar with those other systems might find a way to do the same thing.
But here’s one I like: I have an automation which watches the current draw on my sump pumps. If one is on for too long, it sends me a message and shuts the pump down. This can happen when the motor, impeller or float switch is stuck. In any of those cases, it not only wastes a lot of extra electricity, but can overheat and destroy the motor or even cause a fire.
