What determines if a device is considered a "switch" or a "light"

HA considers the Dimmer a “Light” but a switch isn’t a light? Makes no sense to me.

In HA, a switch can only be “on” or “off”… a dimmer provides other values, so it can’t be a switch.

How do I re-label a device as a “Light”?

I’m trying a Blueprint for the first time … in the default Blueprint that comes with HA

Motion-activated light AND switches

A goal of this, purposefully basic, blueprint is to for users who love the default “Motion-activated light” blueprint, but want to use switches too.
