What happens when you wire things wrong - danger

Edit: installed it today and it exploded 5 hours later.

So what?

Without pictures of how it was installed and knowledge of the attached devices this is a loose shot in the air.

This whole super extended story says - NOTHING. :stuck_out_tongue:

Considering that the only topics you have posted have been about broken devices that you presume are factory defects, have you considered perhaps you might be setting them up incorrectly? In both cases there are a lot of folks who use those without failure.

The solder in there is melted. It’s an 8 amp device. It looks VERY much like it was powering an 8 amp-ish (or more) inductive load like an air conditioner which is NOT according to the manual…
Ratings on those things are always stated for resistive loads unless otherwise specified.
Inductive or Capacitive loads reduce the rating by 3x.

I used it with 1 LED Lamp which is way below the 8 amp rating

I installed them according to the schematic in the manual:

Edit: didn’t realize the wall switches were on a different phase

I’m gonna investigate further maybe it wasn’t the device since it is now 2 manufacturers having the same problem. Who knows maybe the electrician that installed the House wiring F -ed up or something.

Did it explode after some action or ‘just by itself’?

A picture of your actual wiring would help too.

Do you have dimmer in this setup?

What’s voltage between L and N? If electrician f.ed up it might be 400V (two phases)…?

And second question: why don’t you send it back to reseller for replacement? It’s under warranty, right? Posting burned pics is not the right way, requesting a replacement is. Things die, that’s why warranty is there for.

was there a fused spur on the circuit leading to the switch? Would it?

Need more details. Most importantly the circuit it was on.

It exploded just by itself

Yeah i didn’t have the time to look into it i will do it as soon as i have time

Nope, just the lamp no dimmer

You are absolutely right.

If this a defective device, not user / installer error I would think very hard about replacing it with a new, identical device.

Shelly is quite reliable european manufacturer. If I was sure that my wiring is perfect, I would replace it with identical device, preferably under warranty.

Found out my wiring isn’t correct and I f ed up.

On the switch input he used phase 1 but the device power was on phase 2 thats why it made boom.

Anyways, gonna see what i can do to make this lamp smart…

Edit: I know the risks now and will take a more careful approach next time.

Glad you found out you cannot be careful enough without anything worse happening.
