What integration do I need to use to integrate a P2P camera system that uses QR/serial to activate?

Hi all,

I have a generic Chinese brand NVR camera system that I don’t know much about. It’s compatible with several apps that all work by simply scanning a QR code (representative of the S/N), and entering username/password. I do not know what “ecosystem” this type of NVR belongs to. It seems to me to just be generic.

I don’t know how to log in by IP address, which is what all integrations I’ve tried seem to ask for. Does anybody know what type of system I’m talking about, where the login is simply QR code > username > password? Is there an integration where I can add the NVR and cameras this way? What else do I need to figure out?

Thanks

Well a few things.

First and foremost, find your IP. Start with your router, and if not try an ARP command from CMD.

My Hikvision works by scanning a QR code. I tried the ONVIF integration, but I kept on losing my camera stream.

The generic camera integration works much better for me.

I must say the ONVIF integration has some sensors that I like such as movement detection, IR detection, etc. (Depends on the camera) For me I disabled both of the streams in the OVIF integration, kept the sensors from ONVIF for other stuff (I have an automation where the front porch light turns on after sunset until sunrise when the camera senses motion). I use the generic camera integration for my stream as it is way more reliable.

I also have a p2p chinese camera lying around and can’t figure out how to connect it to HA… I have no rtsp link, no onvif and it connects to an app called yi iot (not yi home). How did you connect it via generic camera integration? Again i do not have any rtsp link… even after extensive search online… Thanks!
