What is the simplest alternative to emulated_hue for using devices with alexa

Right now I’m using emulated_hue in order to use my non Alexa devices with Alexa, and it usually works pretty well.

However I have an motorised roller door that opens/closes using emulated_hue, and while it works OK, if I say something like ‘Alexa turn off all lights’ it will open the door, which the last thing I want when I’m about to go to sleep.

Now I guess the way forward here is to have some sort of custom skill, and even something like a pin code would be nice to open/close the door if possible. Basically I still want to be able to open/close my door with Alexa, but will not appear to Alexa as a Light

Does anyone know of anything that would work here? I’m OK setting up more advanced things like node-red, but I am also running HA within the HassIO OS, so I’m may be a bit limited with what extra software I can install.

You’ve got the Alexa integration and the cloud service. Both will allow you to do that.

Thanks very much, I’ve been using emulated_hue for so long I wasn’t aware of the proper Alexa Integration. I’ll try the Alexa Smart Home Skill, I already have a working https setup so at least I’m some of the way there. :slight_smile:
