We are moving to a new house, and I want to build a foundation in something more reliable as homeassistant and zigbee. I looked at KNX and it is ridiculously expensive (170 euros for a pir sensor is a joke). So as an alternative I’m looking at loxone, which seems to be a cheaper alternative to KNX. Do you have experience with it? How good is it? What kind of things are worth automating with loxone? They have a lot of solutions, but I’m not sure if they are all worth it. I am already sold about the lights, but what about multi room audio? Light, motion, temperature sensors? I know KNX has some integration with homeassistant, but I’m not sire about loxone.
hi,
I have loxone for 6 years now and never had a failure so far. I use it for all my critical stuff like door-lock, heating, shading, lights (main lights) and alarm system. for all the other things, which can fail while trying some things, I run home assistant. the main use is to connect zigbee devices to loxone and for energy monitoring. loxone has for the last point also a great solution.
I also like the great dashboard functions for home assistant, which loxone does not have. overall, home assistant is my hardware hub for devices loxone cannot directly talk to.
