What options for CO2 sensor?

I would like to add CO2 sensors to my setup, currently I have z-wave and zigbee devices connected to Smartthings and to HA via MQTT. I alsoo have some aqara devices connected to a xiaomi hub connected to HA.

Vthings seems perfect but no longer in business. Netatmo are expensive. I dont have the know how to build my own.

What are my options? Anyone assembling and selling with mh-z19 sensor?

At the risk of stating the obvious, Nest Protect?

It measures CO not CO2. Even if it did measure CO2 the price is not within scope. Vthings seems to be best but out of business.

It doesn’t look to hard …

To me it does. Soldering is not my strong suit and for the rest I don’t think I’d manage.

Well get someone that can solder to solder the pin headers and even you can plug 4 wires in :stuck_out_tongue:

If you do get an MH-Z19 sensor, make sure it’s not the MH-Z19B variant.

They don’t work with the component yet:

Though they do come with the pins already soldered.

I’m going to build a CO2 sensor according to this instruction https://github.com/arendst/Sonoff-Tasmota/wiki/Wemos-D1-Mini-and-MH-Z19B-CO2-Sensor#mh-z19b-co2-sensor-serial

Why not ask Google?

https://www.google.com/search?q=zwave+co2+sensor

I am aware of those models. But as I have said previously the price point isn’t mine. Vthings was but isn’t in business anymore.

Interesting. You will put together wemos and mh-z19b sensor. Then flash with tasmota? Or? And then send to mqtt?

If simple and not to much work for you, a guide would be much appreciated!

Yes, Wemos with Tasmota firmware and MH-Z19B sensor connected. Communication via MQTT.

Hey Bieniu, do you have an updated list?

What list?

I meant to say gist! However what I really meant to say was wiki page. The link you posted above leads now to a new wiki page, so it appears broken. But I think I may have found a similar guide in the same repo: GitHub - arendst/Tasmota: Alternative firmware for ESP8266 and ESP32 based devices with easy configuration using webUI, OTA updates, automation using timers or rules, expandability and entirely local control over MQTT, HTTP, Serial or KNX. Full documentation at

Site that you found is exactly the one I used.

CO or CO2?

if its CO2 I’d say this one

https://www.homecontrolshop.com/products/mco-home-co2-sensor-230v

if its CO then one of these;

https://www.homecontrolshop.com/collections/gas-carbon-monoxide

Old thread but new life.

Has anyone looked into using a sonoff th10 or th16 with a MG 811?

Would it be pretty straight forward pin to pin?

Is there any out-of-the-box solutions yet for monitoring co2 levels? I can only find carbon monoxide sensors but only sensors that measure co2 are air quality monitors that cost something like 100 dollars and over and comes with display etc. What I need is more like Xiaomi temp/humidity sensors but with the ability to measure co2 levels…

I don’t know if this is supported in HA (via xiaomi gateway). But the cheapest out of the box solution I have seen.
