I have the community or third party samba backup installed, configured and working. I have a HAOS installation.
My question is, what should I back up if I want to be able to reinstall quickly on my OdroidN2+ and be back with all my configurations?

You can do a full backup.
Or if you don’t care about some of your add-ons that can easily be reinstalled you can exclude them from a partial backup.
Likewise with your recorder history.
Personally I do a full backup once a week but this quite the task due to a 4.5GB InluxDB database and a 2GB recorder database. So I do nightly backups that exclude them. Worst case, I loose a week’s worth of history.
I also exclude addons like esphome, vscode, and phpmydamin from all my backups as these can easily be reinstalled without configuration.
Whatever you choose for your backup strategy, periodically test your restore procedure to ensure it works. The worst time to discover your restore procedure doesn’t work is when you need it.
I’m not sure how to do a full backup with this addon. There is no choice for full or partial. Only options are what to exclude. Here’s a screenshot of the destination Synology folder where I do the backups.
No excludes = full backup.
Add some excludes = partial.
Also there are the automation options. hassio-addons/DOCS.md at 57107c0727cbf171cf5dd651dda5c6cf24926c54 · thomasmauerer/hassio-addons · GitHub
I’m not sure how to do a partial backup. Not that I would want to. I have my Samba Backup making a full snapshot daily a bit after midnight to a network disk. Here is the configuration:
Got it. Thank you.
