When to use scenes

This might be a silly (beginner’s) question, but I can’t seem to find an answer.

I have a few different types of light (switches) using different systems, and I’m trying to make my life easier when starting my automation work.

For example, I have a Fibaro Dimmer 2, which is a switch, but one of the inputs directly controls a light. Would it be a smart idea to create a scene (not sure how yet) for that light being on, or off. Same for one of my Tuya things.

Or is the “go to” way more that you find the entity every time in an automation and set the right parameter of that entity for each automation?

Does my question make any sense? Any tips from others here?

Thanks!

I use scenes like presets. Saving multiple devices in certain states.
I have a ‘movie night’ scene, which has several lights, speakers, etc in certain states.
So I can have an automation simply trigger the scene, rather than setting each device individually.

Thanks! Yeah I think this is the normal way to use them indeed, which I will certainly do. I was just wondering if anyone also advises using them for making states more accessible.
