Where to find the dashboard YAML code in backups?

Hi!

I delete a hand-crafted custom card in my dashboard by mistake. So I tried to find the dashboard code in my latest Home Assistant backup… and failed.

Where do I find the YAML code for Home Assistant dashboards in the backups?

I use Samba Backup. Inside there are a bunch of .gz files.

I found the lovelace.* files here:
Samba_Backup_2024_02_24_02_00.tar\homeassistant.tar.gz\homeassistant.tar\data.storage\

If you deleted a custom card from your Home Assistant dashboard, you can find the YAML code in your latest backup. Extract the backup file and look for ui-lovelace.yaml in the config directory or check the .storage mghpatientgateway directory for files named lovelace. This should help you recover the custom card’s code.
