Where to start with Roborock S50 Vacuum (Xiaomi) - Root? Valetudo/dustcloud?

Hi everyone,

So I just bought one of these, and haven’t even tried it yet. I want to make sure I don’t mess something up by updating it to a too new firmware or something.

I searched around, but I couldn’t find any up to date and thorough guide about how to get this integrated the best way with HA. I would also like to be able to completely avoid the Xiaomi cloud. I would like to end up having a nice card in HA showing the various statuses of the vacuum and ability to send it to do zoned cleaning on defined rooms.

Can anyone give me pointers as to where to start?

Did you managed to root the s50?

I’m in the same boat. I looked around too and there are instructions here,

I’m just not sure I’m too comfortable yet although I understand risks are low.

Did anyone succeed with this on a RPI and Hassio based install? I´m just lost when it states you need to install : sudo apt-get install ccrypt git wget unzip.
I do know my token for the Vacuum and have it integrated, but would love to have the map on lovelace on my RPI Hassio install.

Hi, I am in the same boat as you… nervous to flash a firmware. Did you manage to do it.

No. Now using this: however doesn’t give live map.
