I have 5 ESP32s, having 38 pins and a USB port. Now I thought, getting a specific housing for this board should be pretty easy, because everybody is using such devices, but I guess I was wrong.
Yes, there are a couple of recommendations regarding how to print something, but I do not have a printer. I would just like to order something, maybe even from aliexpress or similar. Everything I find is either to big/small, the USB cable does not fit in/through the openings, …
Do you have a hint where I could buy such a housing?
I just recently had the brilliant idea to use cardboard jewel boxes for this.
Best.idea.ever It even come with some foam to prevent stuff from moving around.
Cardboard sounds interesting. Thanks for the hint.
I’ve found some plastic boxes on Amazon and if I would use some foam or similar and a file to make the hole for the cable bigger, it could work out.
I just thought that so many ESPs are used today and the board could be screwed so nicely into a housing, so why isn’t there an enclosure just made for ESPs?
But okay, I guess I’ll order those boxes and search for something to stabilize the board in the box.
I obviously tried those kind of plastic boxes as well. Problem is it quickly becomes messy when you have to “open them up” to let cables or sensors pass through.
That’s the big plus of cardboard: just use a plain cutter knife
I’ve used the generic plastic project boxes you can buy on line. They can be drilled with an electric drill, cut with a band saw and even whittled with an x-Acto knife. I’ve done all of those things to make openings for wires.
I like the cardboard jewellery box idea though. Cheap, environmentally friendly and easy to cut up.
