Which inexpensive, trouble-free devices for TTS?

Hello,

I have a few Echo devices distributed in my apartment, which I also use with the integration “Alexa Media Player”. For example, when someone opens the basement door, a TTS is played, as well as when it is raining heavily, etc.

However, because I’m getting annoyed with having to re-enter the amazon password every few weeks, I’m looking for other voice output devices that works well with Home Assistant.

Any recommendations?

You can do TTS notifications with the Google speakers (mini, etc) and you don’t need to reauthenticate, but you can’t do actionable notifications on the google speakers.

Do I need to set up a google account for this (I actually don’t have one) or will the speakers be recognized by the system without an account?

They should just be automagically discovered by the google cast integration

I use Pi Zero W with a HifiBerry Amp for rooms where I don’t have a amplifier already (e.g. balcony) and Pi Zero W with a Hifiberry DAC in rooms where I already have an amplifier and speakers (e.g. office) and I use Pi4 in a rooms where there is also a TV/projector that plays media.
This way I get multiroom audio, where each room can play individually, but also the same music can be played in all rooms in sync (with snapcast). I also have TTS, which stops the current playing music in all the rooms and continues with the music once the TTS is finished.

Bought GGMM E2 devices and they do their job well with the LinkPlay integration :+1:

Can you share the settings? TTS interrupts the music and when the message is finished the music starts. I have a working TTS, LMS server + picoreplayer, but I don’t know how to put it together.
If I play music and TTS starts, the music does not start and TTS remains in the playlist.

I use mopidy and snapcast, which works different. My settings won’t help you.
