Hello, Im using a NUC with linux server installed (no GUI) and the VMBox with home assistant. IT gives me a lot of problems when rebooting. The vmbox said the machine is up but Is unreachable. If I reboot the nuc sometimes the machine start but HA is unreachable again.
I have to reboot or restart the VM a lot of times before getting started, is super annoying, what can I do to avoid this big problems? Are you using something else?
I switch to linux server because win11 was using a lot of resources of my nuc for nothing (CPU and RAM)
I use HAOS on bare metal on my NUC, no problems whatsoever. All the additional software I want to run is available as an addon, so I do not need VMBox. (I make it a point that what runs there needs to be related to HA, I have other RPI’s for different things).
So you sacrifice an entire NUC… I was thinking about but I have 5-6 programs that need to run in docker, but at this point Im gonna think about bare metal, maybe purchasing a more low cost NUC.
Can you tell me your nuc model?
Thanks
I installed Ubuntu Server on my Wyse 5070 and run HA in a docker container, along with about 10 others. My uptime is 330 days, and only then because my UPS couldn’t outlast a long power outage last summer.
I thought about docker but I have cloudflare, mosquitto, watchdog and crowdsec installed… Only thinking about installing as separate container it drives me crazy
Yeah either iron. Or Proxmox first then you have all the options. I’d still make haos it’s own VM in prox for cleanest access to hardware in case you need it.
I installed after the login I get this popup warning:
