Hi
which of the myriad of wifi motion sensors that appear of ebay and other sites work out of the box with HA. I cant use 433MHz devices, too much local RF about.
I dont want anything that requires an additional hub, Would be nice if not too expensive.
The local RF is what I generate, 300W to an antenna with 20dB of gain (x100)
30Kw erp, and 433MHz devices dont like it, my own weather station given some strange readings.
2.4 GHz survives much better, I only have 150W to to 18dB gain antenna (x60),at 2.32 GHz. Wifi just tends to change channels as far away as possible from me.’
If I was to use 433 MHz linked motion sensors to enable lighting, the lights would be flashing on speech peaks, not a good idea.
In a few years times microwave ovens will be very useful, when the galium Nitride devices
drop in price and become more powerful.
Magnetrons aren’t a lot of good for much else apart from radar and microwave ovens
If you don’t want to use any kind of hub or dongle then you’re limited to whatever RF protocols your host computer’s hardware supports so WiFI and maybe BlueTooth.
BlueTooth is power-efficient so the devices can run on batteries for a long time.
WiFi is not nearly as power-efficient so most homebrew devices are powered from the mains.
I’m trying to order a Conbee 2 USB dongle which should open up the list of available devices.
Its sitting in the cart, but the UK has been dropped off their shipping list of countries : Strange !
I’ve gone through the list several times
the Isle of Man is listed but I cant see either United Kingdom or Great Britain
and I’m aware of the German for each
