Which s/w for ESP8266 boards for a LPD8806 LED strip

I have a two meter strip of 5v LPD8806 RGB LEDs and a WEMOS D1 (ESP 8266) microcontroller. I am wondering if I can control the LED strip via some of the off the shelf firmwares that exist and then obviously control it via MQTT / HA (thats the easy bit).

Anyone know which firmware I can run on the ESP board that supports the LPD8806 LED strips?
