OK, another rant that I deleted there. Iāll shorten it.
Can cable connectors be allowed to have pronouns?
What terms would they replace male and female connectors with?
Plug and receptacle?
*hides my laser screwdriver build in progressā¦
Sonics are so passeā
How about bird and nest.
Far too suggestive of fornication.
Nope
(See full definition)
Rule 34 should cancel all that out.
Even if you say side A and side B the shape of the letters have connotations.
Pointy and holey sides?
In todayās assortment of plugs thereās no lack of diversity and equality, but what about inclusivity? I propose replacing gender-biased connotations for a more quantum mindset.
I have a Laptop with 9 holes
That doesnāt ātriggerā me to propose gender bias
( Which btw reminded me that they all are āPortsā )
Socket and plug works fine for electrical connections. Would it work for everything else?
Of course, biological sex is different to gender (identity), so male/female (vs man/woman) might still be OK. Connections typically are only binary.
Letās get rid of connections and require everyone to solder their own wires!
Or give everything a screw connector block. āI put the pointy wire into theā¦ Ughā¦ā
Adaptors however can be Female-Female or Male-Male. Or even three way Ts.
Anderson connectors are genderless.
Then there are things like reverse polarity SMA connectors.
Hmm, youāre rightā¦ I just woke up. As usual, itās complicated.
Please tell me that screenshot is fake.
Hose is sometimes used for āsocketā , so there is some āgender-lessā descriptions to choose from.
An extension-cord have a Hose and a plug, a Device/Installation have a Port/Socket
Pins are āPinsā ā¦ Whatās the ācorrectā female counterpart here ?
Pun intended, I assumeā¦
also pins
i was thinking on the cables, with the āconnector-hoseā you attached to Pins, when not soldering
Iāve never heard that used. Must be a local language thing.
