I am using the Mobile app on my phone, and have it configured as Track Device for my user. This was working fine, but I messed with a number of things (and added some family members), and now it’s not showing an icon on the map. (My daughter is shown at school, but my wife — who is also currently at home — also doesn’t show up.)
In addition to adding the other family members, and some amount of renaming phone entities and devices, I changed the home radius to 13m in the configuration… but removing that doesn’t fix it.
If I look at the device_tracker.phone_matthews_pixel_4a sensor, it shows me as “home” and has the right lat/long attributes.
Ah! That’s it. But, it turns out if you’re in a more specific zone, it shows that instead. So, I made my home zone be radius: 13.001, and then defined new custom zone 1with radius: 13, and… tada.
Now, I’ll just need to make sure that anything that relies on “home” is checking that other location instead. Not sure if that’s worth it. Seems like maybe it’d be better to find a way to make the people just show up at home.
