WTH should not the release notes show direct in the update view for HA core updates.
Instead of needing to go to the blog post and for the non major release also needing to scroll to almost the bottom to find the latest release version.
Really a pain to leave HA for the blog post for reading all wonderful fixes in the 2024.x.1-2…
It is kind of silly, especially since every HA blog post already has an anchor link on the page that’s just the version number and the date of the release (but could just be the configured as the version number going forward to make it easier to implement)
Just a hint: you don’t need to physically scroll all the way, there is always a link in the table of contents at the end of the intro of the update post.
Not sure I understand the issue here. I scroll down to the table of contents in the blog post, then click the link under “Patch releases” for the latest update.
It does mean scrolling down a screenful or three past the intro, and the “Patch Releases” links don’t get added until the first patch release (so it’s easy to scroll past and not notice them).
In the patch announcements I really think they should place the patch information directly in the update notification within HA like all third party integrations do.
Of course not for major releases, but patch releases usually don’t have that many changes in them.
Yeah I think my tiers of solution for this would be:
Put the patch notes directly into the the HA changelog UI, why am I following a link for those at all?
or
At least make the link in HA UI include the anchor directly, the link anchor doesn’t need any other information other than the version and the date, so we could just stick it there directly, or better yet, make the HA blog anchor link just the patch version, so it could just be templated in very easily.
