Why is the logfile gone when i hardreset my pi?

Sometimes my ha freezes and after replugging the power supply, the logs are gone.

I think a good solution would be to have a rolling set of logs with dates and times on each. Keep a maximum of 5 logs or possibly calculate the size of all the logs and delete the last one that pushes it over a specific MB amount.
