Why is the timer gone for the zone entity

Before the new layout of making automations you could enter a designated time before the entry fired.

Example:

I only want the automation to fire when im home for the 2 minutes.

Now what happens:

  • my wife and I get a message we enterd the zone while we are together.
  • some automations fire directly even if we had to circle around because we cant find a parking spot (as an example)

Are you sure you aren’t confusing the options available in a Zone trigger with those available in a State trigger?

Now that I think of it, maybe

But the question remains, for trigger and conditions.

Why can’t I set a time before before the trigger/comdition are met.

You can, with a state trigger… Are you sure you’re using the proper trigger here? Zone triggers are events, they won’t have a duration attached to them because leaving or entering a zone is a moment in time. Using the zone entity in a state trigger, you can trigger off someone being home for a duration.

He,

Thanks for the reply

I seem to have them mixed up yes. My bad for that one.

I mixed some stuff up! Thanks for the help.

Does this also apply for the device state?

And select my profile i get for like “connected to android auto” i get a timer

When i select “is home” the timer option vanish.
