Why is Zigbee recognizing devices that are off?

I wonder why or how my SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2 still recognizes devices that have the battery off and says they are alive and provides me with some “fake” battery status

I have a few devices (SONOFF SNZB-02 ZigBee Indoor Temperature and Humidity Sensor) that are pretty much the same, and I changed the batteries in all of them at the same time. Now, I cannot find the right ones that should go into their original areas, and I am trying to add the battery to each of them at one time to identify them.

I am open to ideas, but having them without batteries isn’t helping me.

So, for example, here is the information shown in that device:

IEEE: 00:12:4b:00:2a:50:d2:c4
Nwk: 0xbfbe
Device Type: EndDevice
LQI: 255
RSSI: -25
Last seen: 2025-03-27T12:13:18
Power source: Battery or Unknown

The devices have a code printed on their side, but it is nothing I can match against this info

Breathe on a sensor, that makes humidity and temperature rise quickly. Battery devices tend to not report in unless they change temperature / humidity by a set amount, might be why they look online even without batteries.

That did not work for me :frowning:

If they don’t report any temperature change after you breathe on them or keep them in your hand for a little while they are either defective, out of battery or not connected to your Zigbee network.
