It would be great to have wiegand keypad and readers added to HA. Also the ability in ESPhome to trigger event or relay when user code match’s admin codes. That way a door can still open even when the Wi-Fi goes out.
ESPHome Feature Request #211 (May, 2019) requests Wiegand interface be added. Several discussions, different code (keypads and cards) and yet we still have no ‘standard’ Wiegand implementation in ESPHome.
