hi
this guy able to create wink GUI to access wink … but seem like he/she give up;… if you guys can do something like this and intergrate like map…then no one need to worry about token changes and etc
Looks kind of like a weak attempt to duplicate what Craig Trunzo was doing with his Wink@home web interface, except his works completely.
His was all done in ASP/Java. That’s a few steps away from what we have in HA.
hi… why don’t we have integrate all the WINK hub items in the tab (like how HA have map tap… or group ttab…) because we need to make it more user frielnly … like my wife or my mom not a techie,… they want something very simple to user… so if you guys put something like craig does… but locally because people don’t like host everything cloud… for two reason… one . privacy 2nd… all start up company so if they goes bankrupt then lost everything
I think you need to do a bit more research before making a request like this. FIrstly, Wink still requires a cloud connection; there is some local control and more has been added recently, but nothing in HA can change that. Secondly, there is already a program for managing the Wink hub; namely the Wink app. What possible gain is there in reproducing that functionality in HA? Thirdly, HA’s framework is a completely different beast than Craig’s ASP based Wink@Home. While it may be possible to reproduce this in Polymer, Python and NuclearJS, it would be an enormous undertaking and no one else is asking for it. What might help is requesting the ability to include external web pages as views; then you can add whatever web interface you want.
Also, if you set up HA right, it can be very user friendly to non technical users. Guests in my home have no trouble figuring out how to turn things on and off when they see my HA control panel for the first time.
hi… I didn’t say HA is not user friendly what I am saying (wink apps not nice looking interface plus … very limited) . HA is very nice interface and connect other devices as well so i don’t want to use winkhub app… but meantime , wink hub its already taken care of adding devices to the hub… rather reproduce … if you integrate the link like map tab (instead of weblink to open a new tab)… look nice…
also aso we don’t need to worry about updating the token in the configuration file…
what I am doing now is athome… I am running webserver and calling index page and then create a button and then open a page in the mainframe instead of new page… so no multiple tab… that’s what I am asking if you can intergrate ( i dont know its doable or not… dont jump on me. i am not a developer) where the map locate then it would be owesome and no need to run cheap webservers like mine
that’s all
No one is ‘jumping’ on you and if you bothered to read my reply, you would have seen that was exactly what I told you to do:
I don’t think you understand how that works. Opening a separate web interface and logging into it will have no effect on HA and it’s need for a token. The interface would have to become an actual part of HA in order for that to happen. (And you are the only person asking for it.)

If your main concern is controlling devices, HA already does this fine and doesn’t need an additional GUI to do it
-
If your main concern is tokens, I suggest taking a look at recent pull requests as a new method is in the works. It’s usually a good idea to look at pull requests before you request things as many times someone is already working on it.

If your main concern is not liking the Wink app and wanting everything on one place then I already answered your question in the quote above.
I never knew about this until a couple weeks ago and am super glad that I found it! I added a motion detecter while their (Wink) API was having issues (http://status.winkapp.com/incidents/459w37bp6znz) and it broke my entire Wink account. The sensor was in a funky state where I could see it, but the API and Wink admins couldn’t. No one could figure out how to remove it and I didn’t really have anything on my end saying that there was a problem. Wink@home came back with an error that I then took to Wink and it helped them figure it all out. After a couple of days, tons of resets, and a lot of patience and help from Spencer at Wink Support and we got it. After dealing with Wink I can’t say enough how well their support staff is. I keep meaning to send a Thank You to them and get Spencer some recognition. But, yes… Wink@home is a pretty cool project!
Yeah! I remember when Craig first started the project, you could only run it locally so you had to install asp.net, IIS, etc… It was a bit of a bear to get it running. But it was pretty cool to have the web interface when you weren’t at your phone or tablet.
But the hosted bit made it so much easier. I donated to the project and suggest you do the same to help keep him running. I don’t see him doing too much work on it lately though. The wiki is pretty good too with lots of tips.

I don’t see this ever coming to HA, but it would be nice if it could be rendered in a view… heck it would be great if we could render any link in a view!
Yes, the web app sounds much more my speed then! I will donate – I’ve not played around with it too much since but plan to.
