I am using Wireless Tags using the wirelesstags integration. I am trying to get push notifications to work. I have added the ip address of the tag manager under trusted networks, but I still get this error each time it makes a push notification.
Login attempt or request with invalid authentication from 192.168.5.95 (192.168.5.95)
I have ready various posts from people but dont understand all of them, and cant work out how to make this work.
Yes all of the sensors are there, and they correctly get updated every 5 minutes by the integration, the only issue is the push notifications, which are failing.
I know there are several different ways of setting up wirelesstag; I used the method at https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/wirelesstag/, where the push notifications do the updating. If they fail, I don’t see tag updates.
What push notifications are failing?
Cancel all that!
I just figured out that I’m in the same boat as you (I think). If I enable any Custom URL Calling option on the wirelesstag side, I start seeing the same “Login attempt failed” notifications you noted. Therefore the successful updates are all cloud polling.
What do you want to track? Just temperature, or humidity and/or ambient light levels and/or movement as well?
I’m running at least one of (almost) each tag type, and my overall favorite is the External Power Sensor with 1000mAh LiPo battery. It’s larger and doesn’t exactly look pretty compared to the regular (square) tags, but I just went 13 months before having to recharge the battery for the first time. I only get 2-3 months out of the square tag CR2032 batteries, so it seems like I’m constantly changing batteries across eight tags.
I don’t think any tags work under water, other than the outdoor thermocouple versions (which I haven’t tried). Nor do they like >95% humidity for very long. My refrigerator and freezer tags are fine, but I had to poly bag the tags I use outside due to frequent fog. This renders humidity readings useless, but I only want temperature readings for those tags anyway.
I’d like to track temperature in both the refrigerator and pool. They make waterproof version now. I’ll chat with them later today to see if they have versions I can use.
Two to three months of battery life is certainly less than they claim. The external power sensor wouldn’t work in either situation, but for my outbuilding, it would.
OK, I’ve set a temp/humidity tag in the refrigerator. I’ve set polling to five minutes in the wirelesstag iOS app, and both sensors appear in HA. However, as you can see, the sensors aren’t updating in HA at five minute intervals. Is there a setting I’m missing?
Also have same issue with " invalid authentication from wirelesstagmgr.lan" notification.
Update: Senors are now reporting as configured, wireless tag manager IP is banned, but continues to report, and push notifications are working. I’ve created an issue on github, but it hasn’t been assigned a resource.
Did you manage to resolve the “Login attempt failed” error? I have been using these for around 2 years and never got to the bottom of it… i have just got used to it now. everything seems to function correctly…
