Wiring mismatch replacing outdoor light motion sensor with HomeSeer HS-FLS100-G2

I purchased this LEPOWER motion activated outdoor light, planning to replace its motion sensor with the HomeSeer HS-FLS100-G2 zwave motion sensor.

Upon unscrewing the original motion sensor, I found it has 4 internal connecting wires: black, white, red, and yellow. The HS motion sensor only has 3 wires: black, white, red. Here’s some pictures showing the items in question.

The LEPOWER user manual doesn’t indicate what the yellow wire is used for internally, and I wasn’t able to find a pinout schematic for the board used (searched E123995, and also YYDSZLB V3.1). The HomeSeer manual doesn’t mention how to proceed with a wiring mismatch, so I submitted a support ticket with them. Figured I’d also post here given:

  • I found many threads of people looking for a zwave outdoor light w/motion sensor, with no conclusive solution
  • The propensity of the average HA user to be a tinkerer

I’m comfortable with household electrical (including working on my panel), but this is my first foray into tinkering with a device’s internal wiring. Open to any advice on how to proceed!

It could be a separate neutral wire and the sensor has a dual relay (dpst) to switch both hot and neutral.
It could be a ground wire. It could be an unused wire.

I’d try to use a multimeter to look at voltages and/or a current sensor to see if current flows on both red and yellow.
