WTH 2025, Bybye my config file ! (configuration.yaml :-)

i have a dream, all setting in UI

What do you still use your config file for that you aren’t doing in the UI?

That ship sailed 4 years ago. See: The future of YAML - Home Assistant

Definitely better than it used to be but

almost everything except configuring integrations that don’t have a yaml config.

And I’d like it to stay that way.

That is the opposite of this WTH. They are asking to get rid of the config file altogether.

ummm…yeah I know that.

and I’m giving my opinion and opposing the wth.

Rest calls for one.

If you can configure rest calls from UI, cant you essentially run commands from the UI?
Is that OK?

I don’t think you can, unless that’s changed in the last version or so.

@Rumlik seemed to suggest that he wanted to create rest calls from UI vs yaml.
I was basically asking “is that a good idea and is that even safe?”

To address the original WTH, you’re not going to get away from a text file, since even the UI Configuration is stored that way.
