WTH are SolarEdge produced solar energy only by the hour

The SolarEdge app itself shows every 15 minutes.

Just a hint: you can enable ModbusTCP on most of them to query the inverter locally (no cloud) every ~5-x seconds if you like using the Modbus integration or a custom component specifically for solaredge modbus.

This is too specific I think. Solaredge API calls are free but only until a certain moment.
If the integration calls it too often then charges apply and it’s not for free anymore. So the direct reason is Solaedge cloud limitation.

Exactly. I also use the modbus Solaedge and it’s super accurate.

As an FYI, in my SolarEdge setup, I have a sensor named sensor.solaredge_energy_today that gets updated every 15 minutes. Looks like a few of my other solar edge sensors are also getting updated every 15 minutes.

Hmm interesting! Let me check tomorrow. 15 min sequence is the SolarEdge sequence

isn’t this an energy dashboard issue actually?
SolarEdge updates every 15 minutes

yep 15 mins… hardly “realtime”!
Anyway beggars can’t be chosers - (but sure be better if it was more regular than that!)
Then again the SE cloud data to-fro feed itself is pretty slow…
But What can you do? - all this is still awesome.
Kirks I guess… like that other one… dozens of templates just to change entity units to kWh’s!
That’s crazy… can somebody sort this with a simple one keystroke in settings or something ?
Who uses Wh’s?!
(IMO!)
Thanks for the fantastic API integration - it’s ripper!

See the first answer to that thread about what you can do
