WTH can’t I set Home zone location using device tracker entity

Home zone management would certainly be better in the home automation setups with user-defined home zones created from a device tracker entity. Adding a UI component to this would allow for simplified configuration with just any user who is not confident with edits to the configuration.yaml file. Device trackers bring updated location data live, allowing the home zone to be dynamic, following the actual location of devices. This makes automations more contextual and responsive, for example, turning on lights when sensed by someone nearby. Those that are advanced would have a more personalized touch to tweak systems in accordance with preferred requirements. To engage users in community development for feature implementation portrays a user-oriented development focus. It would encourage active participation from the community as it aggregates everyone in collective efforts. As technology on the smart home continues to leap, the day dynamically setting its home zone will become more critical. By going this route, Home Assistant will become proactive rather than reactive by adopting this feature ahead of the times. Those highlighted above can improve by enabling the setting of a home zone from a device tracker entity through the UI.

Or make my vehicle a zone when vehicle is not in home zone

Dynamic home location is already implemented. It was added for people that use Home Assistant in RVs or boats. All it takes is one automation that can be made using the UI editor. See: Dynamic Location option - #2 by tom_l

Also please don’t use LLMs to write your posts. Unsurprisingly they read like a robot wrote them. And you can be banned for using them to help others.

Closed as already implemented.
