I am specifically keeping 3rd parties out of my smart home, but I can’t set up Matter devices on iOS or Android without the setup involving Apple or Google’s platform services.
I want to be able to trigger the HA native setup flow from a phone without engaging the platform services on my mobile device. Instead, I’m stuck manually entering codes into the web UI from my laptop.
Feature request:
You can commission via the matterJS server or HA matter settings if you have ESPhome with Bluetooth proxy. It is not well documented but some kind of workaround.
Yeah, I mentioned using that workaround, but it’s not a great one; I have to type in long, hard to read codes manually, and they have to be re-entered if the page reloads, etc.
I want to be able to capture the QR code from my device using the companion app, but not use the google/apple stack for onboarding, and instead have it use my BT proxies.
