A lot of other systems have very big updates running everything to the latest. HA has multiple seperate updates, so it requires several reboots to fully update.
As an IT pro, I love that I can decide which little part to update, but I get a lot of “whining” about it from others.
So I suggest that if there are multiple updates, like OS, supervisor and HA, that it could be bundled into one big reboot.
Only HomeAssistant OS requires a reboot… If you’re rebooting multiple times, you’re doing it wrong.
Core doesn’t need a reboot. However it does need a restart. Which actually also causes a little downtime.
Maybe that’s where the confusion is.
It took me a little time to figure it out.
Restart is faster then a reboot and all add ons keep running. But ha itself heeds to restart.
It’s restart I’m talking about, sorry for the wrong terminology.
Had the same idea! Would be nice to just hit an Update All button and have home assistant take care of the rest so it is the most efficient when updating.
