WTH can't i use drag & drop in the grid card or horizontal/vertical stack

The new sections UI is awesome! But when editing a grid card or a horizontal/vertical stack i still need to use a suboptimal tab-based editor. It would be awesome if we could edit these in the same way as we can edit the sections.

For information, why do you still need grid or stack within the sections, especially with the new “precise mode” of the display?

This mode introduced in 2024.11 now allows you to use section with smaller grid (12 per line) and thus allows:

  • 3 columns for example (by chunk of 4)
  • to position multiple small buttons (up to 12 per line)

Hi! The ‘Precise mode’ only allows you to increase the size of the component with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12. The slider in your screenshot for example only allows you to increase the button size, not decrease it below 6.

You just need to put the tile in “vertical mode” to decrease the slider to 4

If you use other card, you can decrease more…

It depends on the setting of the minimum size defined by the dev of the card for readability purpose.

Ah i see. For a tile card that works. For a sensor card (my use-case) the minimal width is 6.

There could be a WTH about the sensor card minimum size…

Close to this one : WTH, we lack core cards refresh to be consistent with "new Tile design", or at least a theme

This does not remove the fact that drag n drop into stacks or grids would be nice also…

This is somewhat related to the WTH I posted. It’s more for a migration assistant for folks with complex, nested grids and stacks. My proposed concept is to create a toggle to ‘lock’ or ‘unlock’ a Grid or Stack in the Sections layout which would let you freely drag and drop in and out of Grids and Stacks to aid with migration and conversion.

WTH! Nested Grid / Stack Card Conversion (to Sections)
