I would love to have the same XP on carplay as on my phone
would be nice, but I think that’s not possible because of apple’s guidelines regarding carplay.
Is that an assumption? This is my Upvote!
I would think this is low hanging fruit.
No it’s not an assumption both Google and Apple have stern rules about what’s allowed in dash. (basically lawsuit protection they dont want the liability of someone wrecking while doing something in dash)
Google’s are hard too.
But short version is neither have unfettered access to a browser and you can only do certain things. These are Google and Apple problems. Not HA.
The result now is that everything which is car safe I can do on a 9” screen. But everything else I need to do on a smaal phone screen. This is no way better then just allowing all apps.
And I indeed assume it’s apple. But if there would be a way it would be awesome.
I’m fairly sure they just offer a small toolkit that allows us to create a limited set of controls in CarPlay.
P is 100% correct. There won’t be a way unless they relax the rules.
The dev for the android companion CAN display a dash in an android automotive screen (note automotive is not auto) that doesn’t have the play store but auto with play it’s a plan NO.
Apple has no such animal, AFAIK.
You get a pick list of on/off use them wisely.
For CarPlay, this is what is possible: https://developer.apple.com/carplay/documentation/CarPlay-App-Programming-Guide.pdf
And it also depends on the entitlement that the App has, Home Assistant have: com.apple.developer.carplay-driving-task
You can in a Tesla Browser window…
