The bar chart in then statistics card plots the sum column from Long-Term Statistics. This is an always increasing set of bars that if anything is much better represented by a line.
It seems to me that there should be an option in the card to plot bars which are “change/consumption during period”, i.e. differences between the state at the beginning and end of the bar’s time period. This is what the energy dashboard shows, for example.
